Parky May, HSG, AA

Parky MayParky began volunteering with the Sacramento Area chapter of the Red Cross in 1958. Originally a Safety Services cowboy, he has worked with the National Ski Patrol, saving lives and otherwise making trouble. Parky got involved with disaster services in the late 1970's, when the "Truckee Chapter" was created (in Parky's mind, anyway). Since he became involved, Parky has participated in all the obscure disasters Red Cross seems to find: avalanches, airplane crashes, and traffic jams on Donner Summit. Born in Berkeley, California, Parky has maintained a rebel spirit in the Red Cross. His participation with both the Sacramento Sierra Chapter, Central Valley Zone, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency have widened his perspective on providing effective disaster relief, and have also widened the perspective of these work groups on how volunteers can be involved in the planning process. In his free time, Parky is the vice-president of an adhesives distributing and packaging company, and is the president, chairman of the board, owner, and sole employee of an electronics and communications consulting firm.
