In early 2008 we decided that if you did not plan a vacation we would never get one. We had seen a program on California PBS called “Whale Tales" with Huel Howser which was part of the California Gold series. The program was about whale watching in Laguna San Ignacio. The location was described as "Pristine wilderness in a remote camp location on water's edge" and accommodations were tent cabins.

When we got married, Chris informed me that “roughing it” was staying in a hotel with a black and white television. Over the years I have moved towards her view and really appreciate the “creature comforts.” So I talked to my tour consultant at AdventureSmith Explorations about a trip to Mexico to commune with the whales with “creature comforts.
Chris at AdventureSmith gave us three possible “small ship cruises” and we decided that we would make a reservation with Lindblad Expeditions on their Baja California: Among the great whales.
As our departure date neared, Nevada weather reinforced our choice to go to Baja California.

A couple of weeks before our departure we received a pack of information from Lindblad with Cruise tickets, Name badges, Itinerary / Contact Information, Luggage tags, Baseball Caps, and Cabin Tags. There was also a great book from National Geographic about photography and Staff Biographies (there was only eight (8) of them including Expedition Leader, Undersea Specialist, Four Naturalists, Video Chronicler and a Wellness Specialist.)
The following pages are notes and pictures of our trip.
