Our day started at the Inn at Creek Street

Our first activity of the Day was to see Alaska from the Air. After a lot of research, Alaska Seaplane Tours. This family owned company provide us great experience of viewing Misty Fjords from the air.

Misty Fiords National Monument is a pristine masterpiece featuring some of Alaska’s most spectacular scenery. Seventeen thousand years ago the area was covered in ice. Massive glacier action carved out its present landscape- long saltwater fjords hemmed in by cliffs that soar as high as 3,000 feet into the air. Scenery ranges from tidewater estuaries to mountains often shrouded in mists, sky-blue lakes, waterfalls and the seemingly endless evergreen forest.

Matthew got the best seat (with the possable exception of the pilot) - The Wilderness Adventurer at the dock as we take off from the Ketchikan.

Up close and personal in Misty Fiords

The fun of flying in a float plane is to be able land and get up close to nature.
The airport at Ketchikan is located on Gravina Island and there is no road between the Ketchikan International Airport and the town of Ketchican. The Gravina Island Bridge, commonly referred to as the "Bridge to Nowhere", was a proposed bridge to replace the ferry that currently connects the town of Ketchikan, Alaska with Gravina Island.

Although the bidge as never constructed the road to nowhere was!
After the flight we returned the the Ketchikan Creek to take our luggage to the Cape Fox Lodge where we would meet the other pasangers of the Wilderness Adventurer. It was easy for it was just a 2 block walk from the Inn at Creek Street to the Funicular at Cape Fox Lodge along the boardwalk.
